ELLINWOOD — Loren Don Haddon, 83, passed away at Country Place Senior Living in Ellinwood, Kan. on Sept. 10, 2018.
He was born in Great Bend, Kan. on Feb. 16, 1935 to Dewey Clifford and Ethel Viola (Flanders) Haddon. He graduated from Stafford High School and later enlisted in the Army during the Korean War where he worked as a bookkeeper. He married Maxine Batchman on June 13, 1954, in Great Bend, Kan. She passed away Nov. 6, 2016. Don was a lifetime farmer, rancher, and oil producer for Poor Boy Corp. He served 18 years on the school board for the Wheatland 106 and Ellinwood District 355. He also organized a Colt Cattle operation and had agricultural test serum operation in the 70s. Memberships include the American Legion #320 and the UCC Church where he also served on the council board. Mr. Haddon loved woodworking, fishing and hunting, and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include daughter, Lynette Scheufler; son, Randy and wife Jimaline Haddon all of Ellinwood, Kan. Additional survivors include five grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Scheufler, Jeremy (Amanda) Scheufler, Jodi (Mark) Porter, Chance (Katie) Haddon, Tara Haddon; and eight great-grandchildren, Ellis and Emerson Scheufler, Harper and Kellen Scheufler, Reece and Rylan Porter, and Clemetine and Jagger Haddon. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dewey Dean Haddon; and loving wife of 60+ years Maxine Mae (Batchman) Haddon.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ellinwood, Kan. with Pastors Bill Johnson and Debby Rains officiating. Inurnment will follow at Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kan.
