Lorrayne Eveleigh 1933 - 2021

Lorrayne Eveleigh, 87, passed away January 21, 2021, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. She was born March 1, 1933, at Nekoma to Onie & Nora (Baldwin) Mills. She married Robert Eveleigh August 24, 1954, at Great Bend. 

A Great Bend resident since 1954, Lorrayne was a proud teacher for over 50 years. She was a member of First Methodist Church, Foundry Methodist Church, National Education Association (NEA), Kansas Education Association, Barton County Teacher Association, GBNEA, and Kansas Flying Farmers. She enjoyed volunteering for R.S.V.P., CKMC gift shop, Rural Family Friends, Heartland Shares food distribution and hospice. She held many honors including the state winner twice for the Young Bakers Association, Great Bend Master Teacher in economics, and Kansas Flying Farmers Queen. Lorrayne held many memories close to her heart and was happiest when she was busy doing for others, especially her family and God. 

Survivors include, her husband Robert of the home; her daughter, Michelle Al Ashry and husband Khalad of Dubai; three brothers, George Mills and wife Ladena of Oklahoma City, OK, Bernie Mills and wife Ruth of Broomfield, Colo., and Arlyn Mills and wife Gail of Johnstown, Colo.; a sister, June Greathouse of Hutchison; two grandchildren, Bobby Eveleigh and wife Ploy, and Katie Nelson and husband Nick; and three great-grandchildren, April Eveleigh, Braden Nelson, and Blaine Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Todd Eveleigh; a brother, Delbert Mills; and two sisters, Diora Sandstrom, and Trilby Mills. 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Foundry Methodist Church in Great Bend, with Pastor Aaron Withrow presiding. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials have been designated to Foundry Methodist Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
