ELLINWOOD — Lowell (Mike) Smith, 85, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood, KS on Jan. 22nd, 2018. Born on Nov. 11, 1931 in Raymond, KS to Francis and Hilda (Rose) Smith, he was a lifetime Raymond area resident where he worked as a farmer and rancher and was known to be an avid outdoorsman who always greeted you with a smile.
Memberships include St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, 20+ years in the NRA, Rice County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited (founding member), and Raymond’s Fast Pitch Softball team.
Survivors include three nephews, Jim (Judy) Loesch, Jerry (Brenda) Loesch, Jeff Loesch; and one niece, Janean (Dave) Hicks. Other survivors include three great nephews; three great nieces; five great great nieces; four great great nephews; and many friends.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ellinwood, KS with Rev. Thomas Thierfelder officiating. Interment will follow at Lakin-Comanche Cemetery in Ellinwood. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday Jan. 25 with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.
