Luis G. Mata-Ortiz, 28, died Sept. 10, 2015, at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Feb. 2, 1987, in Durango, Durango, Mexico, he was the son of Sergio and Susana (Ortiz) Mata. On March 26, 2010, he married Elizabeth Arias in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend since 2007, he was a welder for Doonan Specialized Trailers.
Mr. Mata-Ortiz was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Mata-Arias, of the home; father, Sergio Mata, of Durango, Durango, Mexico; mother, Susana Mata, of Durango, Durango, Mexico; three sisters, Maria Guadalupe Mata, Rosaura Mata, and Isela Mata, all of Durango, Durango, Mexico; one brother, Sergio Mata of Dallas, Texas; Parents-in-law, Rogelio and Soledad Arias of Great Bend; two brothers-in-law, Juan Arias and Rogelio Arias, Jr. both of Great Bend; and two sisters-in-law, Maria Hernandez and Abaigal Arias, both of Great Bend.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Memorials are suggested to Luis G.
