Lyle J. Lang 1942 - 2015

Lyle J. Lang, 73, died Feb. 15, at his home in Great Bend. Born Feb. 15, 1942, in Great Bend, he was the son of Frank and Gertrude (Eckert) Lang. On Oct. 24, 1966, he married Nancy Weber in Great Bend. They later divorced. A lifetime area resident, he was a truck driver for Meadow Gold Dairy, Santa Fe Trucking and Kansas Brick and Tile.
Mr. Lang was a United States Army Reserve veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #862, both in Great Bend, and American Legion Post #286 in Hoisington.
Survivors include three sons, Dean Lang of Great Bend, Duane Lang of Great Bend, and Darren Lang of Great Bend; one sister, Lorene Reif and her husband Don of rural Hoisington; two brothers, Melvin Lang and his wife Yvonne of Perry, and Francis “Fritz” Lang and his wife Agnes of Salina; nieces and nephews, Sheila (Reif) Metzger of Hutchinson, Diane Reif of Great Bend, Keith Lang and wife Michelle of rural Hoisington, Randy Lang and wife Sheryl of Perry, David Lang and wife Brenda of Lawrence, Mike Lang and wife Carolyn of Perry, Don Reif Jr., of Hoisington, and Brian Lang and wife Donna of Lawrence; step-niece and nephew, Shawna (Hoeffner) Shadduck of Beaver, and Everet Hoeffner of Hoisington; and five grandpups, Sadie, Nina, Nitro, Whitey, and Jackie. He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Lang.
Vigil Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Don Bedore celebrating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend, with military rites by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Lyle Lang Medical Expense Fund or Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home.
