HOISINGTON — Mable Wilton passed away Sept. 9, 2023, at the age of 100, at Credo Senior Living Center, Hoisington, Kan., peacefully and surrounded by her children. She was born July 15, 1923, in Weskan, Kan., to Ed and Zona (Kroetching) Watt. She married Hugh Elmer Wilton Oct. 25, 1945, in Goodland, Kan. Hugh passed away March 16, 1988.
Mable’s work ethic kept her busy for a lifetime across the country. Mable loved to travel and the family vacationed annually throughout the entire western and southern United States. Mable was praised for her cooking, sewing and crafts, enjoyed her monthly visits to the local Heritage Club and in later years became a staple in the community seen sitting on her front porch enjoying a root beer float.
Mable is survived by her son, Larry Wilton (wife, Vickie), of Hoisington; one daughter, Toni Wilton (fiancé, Chuck Oglesby) of Stilwell, Kan.; four grandchildren, Laura Hall (Brandon), Tina Marchiana, Lance Wilton and Angel Vath; six great grandchildren, Jaycee Vath, Chantz Vath, Cambree Hall, Brodie Hall, Lane Wilton and Bailey Stevens; and one great great grandchild, Benjamin Stevens. She was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Hugh; a son, Gary, one sister, Pearl Lenhart; and a brother, John Watt.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2023, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Pastor Daniel Vandenburg presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. to receive friends. Private family interment ceremonies will take place at Hoisington City Cemetery.
