Mae Suppes, 84, passed away Nov. 16, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. She was born on Aug. 24, 1938, in Victoria, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt. She married Edward Joseph Suppes on June 14, 1958, in Hays. He passed away Sept. 3, 2005.
A longtime Great Bend resident, Mae worked for many years at both Gibson’s Hallmark and Great Bend Floral. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of Isabella, Central Kansas Thread Benders and the Barton County Art Society. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and spending time with her family.
Survivors include, three sons, Terry Suppes and wife Marsha of Overland Park, David Suppes and wife Michele of Fort Worth, Texas and Rick Suppes of Overland Park; a brother, Dale Brungardt and wife Thuong of Hays; three sisters, Doreen Wildeman of Grainfield, Helen Van Quaetham of Raytown, Mo., and Mary Brungardt of Overland Park; a brother in law, Cornelius “Corny” Enslinger of Overland Park; six grandchildren, Nicole Miller (Joshua), Christopher Suppes, Shawn Suppes (Evangeline), Taylor Suppes, Kelly Parker (Trent) and Kristen Suppes; and one great grandson, Rhett Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward J. Suppes; two sisters, Gerri Enslinger and Rose Brungardt; and a brother in law, Francis Wildeman
Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4 p.m. and Vigil service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been designated to Prince of Peace Parish, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
