Major Lawrence D. Turner

Major Lawrence (Larrie) D. Turner, born July 20, 1934, died July 17, 2022.

Survived by wife Janet. His three sons, Dennis (Terri), Stephen (Tess), and Bryan; three grandchildren; two step granddaughters; and two great grandsons; his brother Lester (Audrey); and sister Carolyn (Ron) Hoover.

He earned his USAF pilot wings in 1957. Received Distinguished Flying Cross in Vietnam when his plane received damage and he returned with plane and crew.

He retired at Wright-Patterson in Ohio while serving in Command Post after serving 21 years in the Air Force. He then flew corporate jets in Great Bend for Davis Mudd plus KU Care flights and Life Watch for 14 years. He also started Turnwel Mfg. and built many trailers for the oil field. 

He and Janet spent 20 years as snowbirds wintering in Arizona. He was known for helping others and his gentle nature. 

Funeral service to be held July 28th at 10 a.m. at Old Mission Chapel in Wichita. A Memorial service will be held on the 28th at 2:30 p.m. at the 1st Presbyterian Church in Great Bend. The family ask that donations be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association or 1st Presbyterian Church in Great Bend.
