RUSSELL — Malorie Sue Hamlin, 31, of Russell, died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at the Russell Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Russell.
Malorie was born on April 27, 1984, in Russell, and was the daughter of Rick Pasek and Glenda (Kuntzsch) Pasek. She grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 2002. Malorie found the man she was to spend the rest of her life with in her brother’s friend, Cody Hamlin, and was united in marriage on Aug. 9, 2008, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell. From this union Malorie and Cody were blessed with two children, a son Kooper and daughter Karsyn.
She attended NCK Technical College in Hays, then received her master’s degree at Fort Hays State University. In May of 2013 she earned her APRN through Wichita State University. She worked for the Heart of Kansas Clinic in Great Bend and the Russell Family Medical Clinic.
She was a longtime member of the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell and a member of the Delta Mu Sorority. She enjoyed golfing and drinking beer, camping at Wilson Lake, Royals Baseball and Denver Broncos Football. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her husband and two children.
Surviving family include her husband Cody Hamlin, son Kooper and daughter Karsyn Hamlin, all of the home; father Rick L. Pasek and mother Glenda M. Pasek, both of Russell; brother Chris Pasek and wife Shadava of Russell; sisters April Pasek and companion Scott Betts of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Jessica Betts and husband Charlie of Russell; father and mother in-law Chris and Terri Hamlin of Russell; and brother-in-law Tyler Hamlin of Russell. Also, she is survived by nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother Katherine Pasek, godfather Richard Meier, Aunt Mary Jane Pasek and Uncle Dave Bricker.
A celebration of Malorie’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Russell with Father Mike Elan and James Grennan officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the mortuary. A vigil service will be held at 7 tonight at the church. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be given to the Hamlin Children’s Education Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
