Margaret Cooper Blackwood 1932 - 2014

PAWNEE ROCK — Margaret Cooper Blackwood, 81, of Benton, Ark., died March 11. Born June 22, 1932, in Larned, she was the daughter of the late Durward F. and Gladys Holopirek Cooper. Her family moved to Jonesborow, Ark., when she was 14. She attended Mississippi College for Women (the “W”) for one year before transferring and graduating from Arkansas State College where she was a member and president of Alpha Gamma Delta. On Aug. 30, 1953, she married the late Thomas W. Blackwood, and in 1964, moved to Benton, Ark. She had a passion and true talent for painting in oils, watercolors and pastels
Mrs. Blackwood was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Benton, and a longtime member of P.E.O.
Survivors include her children, Cheryl Bryant (Royce), and Thomas W. Blackwood, Jr. (Cathy); four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel in Larned, with Robert Sallee presiding. Burial will be at the Pawnee Rock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Mortuary.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, 200 N.
