SALINA — Margaret Helen (Ellison) Froetschner, 92, of Salina, Kan. passed away Jan. 23, 2023, at Salina Regional Health Center after a short illness.

Maggie was the 10th of 13 children born to W.C. and Mary (Talich) Ellison, Sept. 18, 1930, in Carr, Colo. On Nov. 22, 1961, she married Roy W. Froetschner, Jr. at Larned, Kan. He preceded her in death Aug. 29, 2011.  

She retired from the Accounting Dept. at Larned State Hospital after 30 plus years of service. Maggie and Roy enjoyed golf, square dancing and many adventures overseas and across the U.S. with her siblings, nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Maggie also enjoyed singing in the choir, cross stitch, clogging and any chance to spend time with the grandkids and her children. They enjoyed many of their retired years living in Arizona.

Maggie is survived by a daughter Mickey Hicks, Iola, Kan.; two sons, Clayton Akers, Winfield, Kan. and Robin (Barb) Froetschner, Salina, Kan.; one brother Roger (Linda) Ellison; two sisters, Harriet Gerstenberger, and Fran Tuttle; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  Along with Roy she was preceded in death by her daughter Jackie Lemuz; son-in-law Patrick Hicks; three brothers Bob, Tom and Steve; six sisters Ruth Adams, Beth Stanton, Jean Coffey, Mary Kathryn Adams, Pat Pfalzgraff and Shirley Philson.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at the United Methodist Church of Larned, Kan. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to United Methodist Women, 701 Main St., Larned, KS  67550, are appreciated.
