LARNED — Maria Hilda Phillips, 82, passed away June 20, 2017, in Larned. She was born May 20, 1935, in Durazno, Uruguay, the daughter of Maria Hilda Arriola. A longtime area resident, she was a CNA and CMA at the Larned State Hospital. On May 4, 1960, she married Gerald LeClair Phillips in Salt Lake City, Utah. He died March 27, 2013.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Great Bend.
Survivors include, two sons, Gerald B. (Ramona) Phillips and Mark D. Phillips, both of Larned; three daughters, Chrys Phillips, Larned, Queli (Jan) Phillips-Caddell, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Vicki Kolbeck, Spearville; brother, Eduardo (Isabel) Norat, Utah; two sisters, Olga Glasset, Sandy, Utah, and Charo (Enrique) Alvarez, Utah; 11 grandchildren, Blain, Matthew, John, Aaron, Veronica, Elisa, Kendra, Nicholas, Kenny, Ali and Travis; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew L. Phillips; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy L. Phillips.
Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, at Larned Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the National Ataxia Foundation, Shriners Hospital for Children, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or National Autism Association in care of the funeral home.
