Marie M. Hoss

Marie M. Hoss, 99, died Sunday, February 7, 2021, at the Rice County District Hospital, Lyons, Kansas.  She was born September 8, 1921, the daughter of Frank Miller and Louise (Zecha) Miller.  She married Basil K. Hoss on October 18, 1949, in Claflin.  He died March 7, 1982.

Marie was a homemaker, caregiver, and bookkeeper for Hoss Standard Service Station.  She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society, and former member of the Daughters of Isabella in Claflin. 

Survivors include; sons, Jeffrey (Mary Lou) of Manhattan, Gregory of Belle Plain, and Dennis (Deanna) of Lecompton; daughters, Vicky Folk (Jerry) of Bushton, and Mary Jo Gifford of Topeka; sisters, Teresa Dolechek of Hoisington, and Roberta Prosser of Hoisington; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and five siblings, Martin and William “Bill” Miller, Leona Leiker, Rita Doll and Doris Smith; and son-in-law, Dennis Gifford.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

There will be a Vigil service  and Rosary will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Thursday, February 11th, 2021, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin, celebrated by Father Meinrad Miller and Father Meinrod Miller.  Burial will follow in the Claflin Cemetery.
