Marilee T. (Feist) Huslig, 1925-2018

ELLINWOOD — Marilee T. (Feist) Huslig, 92, was called Home by her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 17, 2018.

Born December 11, 1925 to Anthony and Eva (Christoph) Feist, Marilee was the oldest of eleven children and grew up on the family farm near Sts. Peter and Paul Church north of Ellinwood, Kansas. She attended Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic School, Claflin High School and beauty school in Wichita, Kansas.

She married Leverne Huslig on October 9, 1948 and to that union were born seven children.  She was a homemaker and a farm wife, making countless trips out to Scott City, Kansas where Leverne farmed to make delicious meals for the crews during wheat harvest and fall harvest.

Marilee was a devout Catholic who prayed the rosary, Novenas and attended Mass on a regular basis.  She was an expert seamstress and participated in evening woodworking classes at Ellinwood High School for many years and tackled many refinishing projects.  She was also an outstanding cook who loved to bake.  Gardening was a favorite pastime, along with canning and freezing the produce.

She was a member of St. Joseph Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella and dedicated many years of her life to leading the rosary before Saturday night Masses and at many funeral vigils.

Marilee is survived by her husband, Leverne, and children: John (Betty), Alexandria, Virginia; Elva Fellers (Dan), Topeka, Kansas; Jeff (Terri), Ellinwood, Kansas; Bennett (Adele Komarek), Ellinwood, Kansas; Daniel, Austin, Texas; and Laura Jones (Tom), Annapolis, Maryland; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elva; three brothers, Fritz, Linus and Tony; her son, Gene, and his wife, Debbie; brothers-in-law, Emanuel Doll, Bernard Huslig, Melvin Huslig and Elmer Huslig; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Feist-Schissler and Marion Sandlin.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018, with the Altar Society Rosary at 3:00 p.m. at Minnis Chapel in Ellinwood.  A Parish Rosary/Vigil will be held at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  Marilee will be laid to rest at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery north of Ellinwood, Kansas.
