Marilyn Dobratz 1929 - 2016

TOPEKA — Marilyn Dobratz, 87, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, after a short illness. Born June 9, 1929, in Salina, she was the daughter of Edward and Mary Schwarz Jilka. In 1947, she graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She attended St. Mary College in Leavenworth and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in dietetics and institutional management in 1951. On May 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert Dobratz at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together.
Mrs. Dobratz was a member of Alpha Delta Sorority.
Survivors include her husband; children, Steve (Kim), of Great Bend, Mickey (Susan), of Leawood, Rose (Mike) Lott, of Topeka, Carolyn (Jay) Ditsworth, of Roanoke, Texas, Linda (Phil) Wedge, of Lawrence, and Dr. David (Wendy) Dobratz, of Olathe; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard Jilka; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry, in 2013; her parents; and brother, Laurence Jilka.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit. The family suggests memorials to St. John’s Catholic Church in Beloit, or Christ the King Catholic Church in Topeka. Online condolences may be made at www.mcdonaldrobertsfunerafservice.com.
