Marjorie Elizabeth Schrater, 88, died Dec. 23 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Dec. 10, 1923, in Alexander, she was the daughter of Samuel and Catherine (Wilhelm) Yost. On Oct. 7, 1944, she married Vernon Edward Schrater in Alexander. He died on Feb. 28, 2010. A resident of Great Bend since 1960, coming from Timken, she was a farm wife and a bookkeeper for Rowland’s and Whitesell Lumber Company.
Mrs. Schrater was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include two sons, Steven Kent Schrater and wife Kathy, of Guthrie, Okla., and Roger Vernon Schrater and wife Jeanita, of Albany, Ore.; five grandchildren, Mike Schrater and his wife Jo, Jared Schrater and his wife Kerri, Kristtoffer Schrater and his wife Melissa, Karsten Schrater and his wife Misty, and Terri Jo Glover and her husband Brent; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Gene Yost and Glenn Yost; and one sister, Juanita May Brenning.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Ryan Lynch officiating. Burial will be at the Larned Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home.
