Marjorie Marie Pizel, 88, died Sept. 3 at Great Bend Regional Hospital in Great Bend. She was born Nov. 25, 1921, at Kanorado, the daughter of Raymond and Ida (Stalgren) Wright. She married Herbert L. Pizel June 20, 1942, at Goodland.
She graduated from Kanorado High School and Colorado Women’s College in Denver, Colo. Herb and Marge farmed near Kanorado until they retired and moved to Goodland in 1996. In 2004 she moved to River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend.
She was a member of Kanorado United Methodist Church. She also belonged to Sugar Hills Golf Club, Goodland; and Sorrosis and EHU in Kanorado. Her hobbies included gardening, painting, crafts, bowling, golfing, and playing four-point pitch and other games with family and her friends at River Bend. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Donald Lee Pizel, and sisters Joyce Burd and Joan Wright.
She is survived by her son Ronald Lee Pizel and his wife JoAnn, Marietta, Ga.; daughter Linda Marmie and husband Jerry, Great Bend; grandson Sean Pizel, Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughters Tatum Dunekack and husband Mike, Great Bend, and Tara Dominguez and husband David; great-grandchildren Camryn and Cal Dunekack of Great Bend; and brothers Bill Wright, Goodland, and Jack Wright and wife Connie of LaCresenta, Calif.
The body was cremated and there will be no visitation.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Mountain Time, on Friday, Sept. 24, at the Kanorado United Methodist Church with Pastor Leonard Cox officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Kanorado Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Kanorado United Methodist Church, and may be mailed to Koons Funeral Home in Goodland.
