RUSSELL — Martha Eichman, 91, of Russell, died Nov. 7 at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. She was born on July 6, 1919, in rural Hoisington, the daughter of Peter Schneider, Sr. and Lydia (Bender) Schneider. She grew up in the Hoisington area and attended country schools. She met, fell in love and was united in marriage to Theodore Eichman on March 27, 1938, in Barton County. Martha and Theodore were the classic farming couple and managed their farm in the Hoisington area for many years. From helping Theodore in the fields to tending to their cattle and other farm animals, it is safe to say that Martha loved living and working on the farm. Martha lost her beloved husband on Aug. 5, 1976. Shortly after Theodore’s death, she moved and made Russell her home.
Mrs. Eichman was a member of the Lutheran Church and enjoyed card clubs, gardening, fishing and shopping.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, fouir brothers Pete Jr., Paul, Ted and August Schneider; three sisters, Katherine Rein, Molly Pope and Christina Maier. Martha is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary Chapel in Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Services will conclude at the mortuary and there will be no graveside service. Visitation will begin from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary in Russell with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday.
