CLAFLIN — Martina M. Luebbers, 92, died Dec. 5 at Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita. Born March 17, 1918, at Marienthal, she was the daughter of Martin and Anna (Lauber)Younger. She married Joseph Luebbers on May 3, 1949, at Hoisington. He died March 15, 1977. A longtime Claflin resident, coming from Hoisington, she was a homemaker and the Claflin librarian from 1971 to 1988.

Mrs. Luebbers was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Altar Society, D of I and the Ralph B. Praeger VFW Auxiliary, all of Claflin. She loved to read, play bingo and cards. She also played in the bell choir at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Luebbers and his wife Dawn Dupler of Ballwin, Mo., Bill Luebbers and his wife Becky of Hoisington, and Andy Luebbers of Claflin; one daughter, Susan Weber and her husband Roy of Hoisington; two sisters, Mary Ann Funk of Galatia and Betty Shaver of Quinlan, Texas; one brother, Jerome Younger of Emporia; four grandchildren, Chris Weber and his wife Anne, Tracey Mc-Kenna and her husband Brett, Corliss Luebbers and Riley Luebbers; two step-granddaughters and two step-great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Younger, Paul Younger and Leonard Younger.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Claflin, with Father Charles Mazouch officiating. Interment will be at Claflin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, Hoisington. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, followed by an Altar Society rosary, also at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Activity Fund of Woodhaven Care Center or Claflin Ambulance Fund, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.nicholsonrickefh.net
