EUGENE, Ore. — Marvin Alan Vollmer, 85, died Aug. 22 of age-related causes.

He was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Byers, to Charles and Edith Andis Schoonover. He married Jean Gallon in 1949.

Mr. Vollmer attended the University of Kansas. He served as a corporal in the 407th Airborne in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He worked as an accountant.

Survivors include his wife, of Springfield, Ore.; two sons, Christopher and Michael; two daughters, Judith Russell and Cheryl Graham; a brother, Wayne Mendenhall; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
