LECOMPTON — Marvin Amerine, 78, passed away on May 24, 2016, at Midland Hospice in Topeka following a short bout with cancer. Born March 7, 1938, in Great Bend he was the son of William LaVern and Velma (Boyd) Amerine. He graduated from Great Bend High School. On July 9, 1956, he married Marilyn Cousins in LaCrosse. She preceded in him in death on Dec. 13, 2012. Formerly of the Great Bend/Ellinwood area, he worked for Marlette Mobile Homes, S&H Feeders and most recently for Schlesinger Farms, until he retired and moved to Lecompton.
Survivors include four sons, Tim of Great Bend, Randall (Ruth) of Lecompton, Doug (Melanie) of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Craig (Lou) of Lawrence; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard; and one sister, Joyce. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one brother, Clifford Amerine.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Lakin Commanche Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Midland Hospice in care of Ruth Amerine, 369 N. 1700 Road, Lecompton, KS 66050.
