LARNED — Mary Alice Skelton, 93, passed away Oct. 6, 2026 at Pioneer Ridge in Lawrence.
She was born May 12, 1933 in St. John, the daughter of Chester F. and Elma W. Cubbage Hole.
A lifetime Larned resident, she worked as an R.N. for Dr. M.G. Kirby. She was an active, lifetime member of First Chrisian Church, Larned, where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of Larned Garden Club, LiArMu (Literature Arts Music), and was also a part of the Sunday Night Card Club group. She was a very talented artist and created many paintings and murals throughout Larned and the surrounding communities for many years. Mary Alice also taught art classes and was a baton instructor for the summer recreation program for many years. She was a former member of Larned City Council, and thoroughly enjoyed attending and made time for every sporting event for each one of her grandchildren throughout the years.
On June 11, 1952 she married the love of her life, Charles Harlan ‘Ske’ Skelton at Larned. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2022.
Survivors include, son, Jay (Beth) Skelton, Perry; daughter, Karan R. (Keith) Rudolph, Montgomery, Ala.; son-in-law, Steve Soeken, Ellinwood; two brothers, Chester F. Hole Jr., Peoria, Ill., Brian Hole, Hawaii; two sisters, Lois Parrish, Ft. Meyers, Fla.; May Jane Hutson, Eureka Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her daughter, Janene L. Soeken; sister, Lola Mae Eberle; and her brother, Dalton Annan.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Pastor David Spare presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, 2026 at Beckwith Mortuary, with family present from 5-7 p.m. Burial in Larned Cemetery, Larned.
