LARNED — Mary Ann Fox-Tammen, 77, passed away Jan. 28, 2014 at the KU Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.
She was born Feb. 10, 1936 in Great Bend; the daughter of Pete F. and Hilda R. Boor Penka. A lifetime area resident, she was a school nurse for Fort Larned USD 495 and Pawnee Heights USD 496, a surgical nurse and a farmer.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, The Red Hat Society, Gem Gals, Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary, the 99s Pilot Club, Mahjong Club and the Card Club, all of Larned and the Seven Continents Club.
On Dec. 23, 1961 she married Nealan Keith Fox. He passed away April 23, 1992. On Feb. 10, 2001 she married Charles Lee Tammen in Larned, He passed away June 22, 2003.
Survivors include:  a daughter, Cindy Grant and husband Leonard, Larned; three grandchildren, Kelly Lynch and husband Sean, Eldora, Iowa; Kylee Grant, Manhattan; Kyle Grant, Hays; a great grand-daughter, Kassidy Ann Marie Lynch, Eldora, Iowa;  five brothers, Vernon Penka, Kansas City, Kan.; Larry Penka, Derby; Roy Penka, Belpre; Allen Penka, Dodge City; and Gerald Penka, Norwood, Mass.; and four sisters; Kathy Bowman, Larned; Patricia Klamm, Kansas City, Kan.; Joyce Sims, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Connie Mauney, Pawnee Rock.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty White.
Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Larned with Rev. Bethann Black presiding.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.  Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
Memorials may be given to the Pawnee County 4-H or the Jordaan Memorial Library both in care of the Beckwith Mortuary, P.O. Box 477, Larned, KS, 67550.
