ELLINWOOD — Mary Ann (Trott) Matrow, 89, passed away in Wichita, KS on Dec. 13th, 2019. Born on Sept. 25, 1930 she was the daughter of Walter A. & Myrtle L. (Deeds) Trott. Mary Ann grew up in Ellinwood graduating with the class of 1948. She attended Kansas University and later married Rev. John E. “Jack” Matrow, Jr. on Aug. 7, 1949 at the United Methodist Church in Ellinwood. Mrs. Matrow embraced the role of Minister’s Wife, in Nebraska, Texas, Tennessee, and Missouri where she assisted in church services and events, women’s groups, and youth groups. She attended conventions and conferences, helped raise money for a number of missions, always sang in the choir, and assisted with carry-in suppers at the churches. Once Jack retired they moved back to Ellinwood to her family home with her mother, Myrtle Trott, until she passed away in 2001. Jack and Mary Ann also were members of First Christian Church in Great Bend and attended Immanuel Church of Christ in Ellinwood, where Jack substituted as Pastor.
Survivors include son, John E. Matrow III, Wichita, KS; daughter, Martha R. (Matrow) Jones, Bixby, OK; granddaughters, Rachel Glenn, Haysville, KS and Rebecca Sellers, Flint, TX; and 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tues., Dec. 17th at the United Methodist Church in Ellinwood, KS with Pastor Tom Reazin officiating. Burial will follow at Bean Cemetery in Little River, KS followed by a reception back at the church. There will be no public visitation. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist women’s group in care of Minnis Chapel PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
