Mary Lea Wade 1929 - 2014

Mary Lea Wade, 85, died Oct. 21, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Aug. 14, 1929, in Prague, Okla., she was the daughter of Alvin and Pearl (Stiffler) Montgomery. On Oct. 14, 1951, she married Lee Wade in Great Bend. He died on April 9, 1988. A resident of Great Bend since 1946, coming from Prague, Okla., she was a secretary for Kopke Law Office and Haneke Financial Services.
Mrs. Wade enjoyed bringing smiles to friends with her gifts of food and embroidery. She gave more in life than she took.
Survivors include two sons, Kent Wade and his wife Sheila of Overland Park, and Dick Wade of Great Bend; one grandchild, Ann Wade of Lawrence; one brother, Dwight Montgomery of Prague, Okla.; one sister, Viva (Montgomery) Stacy, of Shawnee, Okla.; cousins, Carley Day of Great Bend; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Jo (Montgomery) Davis; and cousin Edwin Day.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Great Bend Cemetery with the Rev. Chase Hill officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bryant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the University of Kansas Cancer Center, in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent and notice viewed at www.bryantfh.net.
