Mary Lee Winter 1942 - 2022

Mary Lee Winter, 80, passed away July 29, 2022, at Almost Home, Great Bend. She was born July 3, 1942, at Hays to Basil & Fern (Seaman) Ryan. She married George Alan Winter December 21, 1963, at Hays. George passed away January 5, 2021.

She grew up near Nekoma and graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1960. She attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, where she got her masters degree in education and met her husband George. They moved to Great Bend in 1964 and she taught kindergarten at Lincoln School until 1970. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church and was active in church activities over the years, teaching Sunday school and helping organize funeral dinners. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a good listener, and would offer encouragement to those in need.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Vance and husband Judd of Wichita; a son, Brad Winter; a sister, Ruth Ryan of Kansas City; and two grandchildren, Sara Vance and Erin Vance. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. August 5, 2022, at Great Bend Cemetery with Pastor Dwight Dozier presiding.  There will be no viewing or visitation, as cremation has taken place.  Memorials have been designated to Almost Home, Inc. or Central Kansas Dream Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
