Mary A. LeRoy

Mary A. LeRoy passed away Sept. 11, 2020. She was born July 8, 1932, in rural Butler County near Towanda, Kan., the daughter of Benoni and DeVesta (Kennedy) Smith. She married Louis A. LeRoy on Nov. 26, 1950.

Mary was a homemaker, church secretary, and bookkeeper. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Great Bend, where she served terms as Deacon, Elder, and Clerk of Session; was active in the Presbyterian Women’s organization, serving as secretary; and was chairperson for the Prayer Tower. 

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey LeRoy, and Mark LeRoy (Lea Ann), both of Great Bend; one daughter, Shari Blase (Robert), of rural Hoisington; four grandchildren, Jacob Blase (Kaylee), Shannon (Blase) Elliott (Jeff), Douglas Blase (Lindsey), all of the Kansas City area, and Kyle LeRoy (Chelsy), of Larned; eight great-grandchildren, Juliet and Natalie Blase, Samantha, Saoirse, and Arthur Elliott, Atlas Blase, and Calvin and Alyxandra LeRoy; in-laws, Duane and JoAnn (LeRoy) Stoskopf, of Olathe; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and grandson Garrett Blase; three sisters, Thelma Smith, Hazel Ratts, and Evelyn Morris; and four brothers, Boyd Smith, Bruce Smith, Frank Smith, and Ben Smith.  

Cremation has taken place, and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, and Hospice at Hays Medical Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home. Arrangements provided by Bryant Funeral Home of Great Bend, Kan.
