ELLINWOOD — Mary Therese Landreth, 89, passed away Feb. 3, 2021, at Hospice House of Hutchinson. She was born Oct. 12, 1931, at Ellinwood, to Harry and Esther (Schartz) Kimpler. She married Ray Landreth at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in rural Ellinwood. He died in 2000.
Growing up in Ellinwood, living most of her adult life in the Wichita area, Mary joined the Sisters of Precious Heart after high school and practiced for 20 years. She also taught special education classes at Cowley College and Newman University in the Wichita area for many years. Mary was a member of the Catholic Church of the Magdalen in Wichita and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood. She loved children, playing slots, going to the Heritage, and fishing.
Survivors include her seven nieces and nephews; four Godchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Landreth; a brother, Bill Kimpler; and a sister, Henrietta Casey.
Visitation will be Feb. 8, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, a Rosary will be held at 11 a.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow with Father Terrance Klein presiding. Interment will be in the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. Memorials are designated to St. Joseph Catholic School, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
