Maxine Krallman 1926 - 2012

Maxine Krallman, 85, died Jan. 10 at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend. Born Oct. 5, 1926, in Dover, she was the daughter of Henry Floyd “Harry” and Neta Faye (Nixon) Long. She was a 1945 graduate of Hoyt High School. On April 3, 1948, she married Leroy Darrel Krallman in Kansas City, Mo. He died on May 10, 2005. A resident of Great Bend since 1950, coming from Hoisington and Kansas City, Mo., she worked in the credit department at Montgomery Ward and the credit and audit department at Sears from 1955 to 1987. She loved feeding the birds, especially orioles and finches, needlework, crafts, cooking, playing cards with family and friends, and taking care of her granddog, Tasha.
Mrs. Krallman was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 180 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and served on numerous church committees.
Survivors include a son, David Krallman and his wife Marianne, Great Bend; a daughter-in-law, Marian Krallman, Wichita; two sisters, Dorothy Young, Topeka; and Marge Slavik, Lenexa; a grandson, Nathan Krallman of Salina; two step-grandsons, Jon Stinchcomb and David Stinchcomb; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Darrel Krallman; two brothers, Vernon “Bud” Long and Donald “Don” Long; and two sisters, Florence Slavik and Hazel Rose.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Rev. William F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Great Bend. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or American Legion Auxiliary Post 180, in care of the funeral home.
