Melva Gean Reisbig, 94, died Tuesday Dec. 5, 2023, at her home in Great Bend, Kan. She was born Jan. 7, 1929, at home, close to Susank, Kan., the daughter of Reinhardt and Louise (Deutsch) Ochs. A lifetime resident of the Great Bend area, Melva was baptized and confirmed in the Evangelical Reform Church in rural Barton County and attended Rude School. Melva married Ralph H. Reisbig Jan. 18, 1948, at Hoisington, Kan. Ralph passed away May 31, 1993. They were owners and operators of Reisbigs, Inc., a clothing store in Great Bend, and were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend.
Survivors include one son, John (Sherry) Reisbig of Spokane, Wash.; three daughters, Joyce Henry of Great Bend, Cheryl (Brett) Moran of College Station, Texas, and Marylou (Steve) Andrews of Albert, Kan.; one brother, Harlin Ray (Barbara) Ochs of Kerrville, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, an infant son, Steven Ralph, one sister, Aleen Eichman, and one son-in-law, Ron Henry.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jay Welshonse presiding. The family will be present to greet guests from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Inurnment will be at Hoisington City Cemetery. The register book will be available to sign at Bryant Funeral Home, during normal business hours, until the day of the service. Memorials are designated to Gentiva Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
