PRETTY PRAIRIE — Melvin Lyle Herrell, 82, died Feb. 8, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Stafford, to Leo Jesse and Sylvia May (Gahm) Herrell.  Melvin was a parish member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Teamsters. He retired from Dillon’s in February 1996 and was a bus driver for area schools.  
On May 28, 1955, Melvin married Joyce Elaine Strawn in Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: children, Vicky Pahl and husband John of Pretty Prairie, Joe Herrell of Hutchinson, Greg Herrell of Hutchinson,Teresa Frieb and husband Dan of Olmitz, Doug Herrell of Pretty Prairie, Brent Herrell of Hutchisnon, Sara Brubaker and husband Ron of Hutchinson; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Close of Wildomar,Calif.; and brother, Don Herrell and wife Charlotte of Mitchell, Neb. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents.
Parish rosary will be 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. Friday Feb. 12, at Church of the Holy Cross with Father Ned J. Blick presiding. Friends may call 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
