Melvin Patrick Kaiser 1930 - 2013


GREAT BEND — Melvin Patrick Kaiser, 83, died Dec. 18, 2013 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood.
Born March 17, 1930 in Ellinwood, he was the son of Walter A. and Anna (Heinz) Kaiser. On May 13, 1952 he married Frances A. Wirtz in Ellinwood. A lifetime resident of Barton County, he hauled crude oil for Koch Oil and later drove a truck for Jack B. Kelley, retiring in 1995.
Mr. Kaiser was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 862, both of Great Bend. He enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events, word search puzzles, polka music, dominos, and a good game of pitch.
Survivors include three sons, Steve W. Kaiser and wife Lynn and Jim A. Kaiser and wife Debby, both of Great Bend; and Stan D. Kaiser and wife Jana, Overland Park; two daughters, Marcie Liebl and husband Larry, Claflin; and Sharon Feist and husband Greg, Great Bend; a sister, Mary Lou Ehrlich, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Jack Kaiser, Pratt; and Gerald Kaiser, Great Bend; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, Cory Kaiser and wife Erica and their children, Crawford and Kellan, Kingwood, Texas; Kelly Kaiser and wife Sarah and their children, Bo, Cruz, and Hayes, Andale; Stephanie Kaiser and Tom Trujillo and their son, Max, Great Bend; Ryan Kaiser and wife Kasey and their daughters, Emerson and Camden, Shawnee; Lt. Aaron Kaiser and wife Michelle and their daughters, Madeline and Emery, Oceanside, Calif.; Scott Liebl, Claflin; Travis Liebl, Wichita; Courtney Liebl, Manhattan; Jenni (Feist) Knepper and husband Cody and their children Brody and Lilly, Edmond, Okla.; Evan Feist and wife Heather and their daughter Brooklyn, Wichita; Kyle Kaiser, Brett Kaiser, and Connor Kaiser, all of Overland Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances A. Kaiser; brother, Royce Kaiser; and sister, Carmen Kaiser.
Vigil service with the Knights of Columbus will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend with Father Ted Stoecklein officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Woodhaven Care Center or Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home.
