Melvin Stanley Ringering 1938-2015

ELLINWOOD Melvin Stanley Ringering, 76, passed away at home on Monday Jan. 5.  Born Aug. 22, 1938, he was the son of Stanley H. and Dorothy (Schade) Ringering.  
He was a lifelong resident of the area. On August 30, 1959 he married Karen Fox in Ellinwood.  Melvin was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church.  He was a farmer and former mail carrier, member of the Lions club, Boy Scout Leader, Ellinwood Volunteer Fire Department and EMT Service, as well as a member of the Ellinwood Area Healthcare Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; sisters, Gladys Barnett of Wichita and Mrs. Milton (Delores) Schwertfeger of Ellinwood; sons Richard (Debbie) of Plano, Texas, Russell (Monica) of Ellinwood and Paul (Shelby) of Wamego.  He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents.    
Funeral Services will be at the First Baptist Church south of Ellinwood on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakin- Comanche District Cemetery in Ellinwood. There will be a visitation at Minnis Chapel from 1-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan 7.  Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society in care of Minnis Chapel, PO Box 246, Ellinwood, KS 67526.
