GALATIA — Michael W. “PeeWee” Lewis, 56, Galatia, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at his home.
“PeeWee” was born Feb. 13, 1962, in Denver, Colo., the son of Frank and Diana (Engel) McGhee. He was a longtime resident of Rush County, Kan., and Barton County, Kan. A 1981 graduate of Victoria High School, Victoria, Kan., he worked for Flame Engineering Inc., La Crosse, Kan., for several years.
He was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kan., and UA Local 669.
“PeeWee” enjoyed anything outdoors. Two of his favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing.
Survivors include, his mother and stepfather, Diana and Raymond Gallegos, Galatia, Kan.; one son, Jesse Lewis, and his wife, Audrey Lewis, Ellinwood, Kan.; four grandchildren, Jaxon Lewis, Braden Lewis, Keaton Lewis, and Addilyn Lewis; one brother, Joseph Lewis, Salina, Kan.; and one sister, Saska Pfannenstiel, and her husband, Greg Pfannenstiel, Hays, Kan. He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. at the Janousek Funeral Home, La Crosse, Kan. A vigil service and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, La Crosse, Kan., with Father Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will be in the La Crosse City Cemetery, La Crosse, Kan. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kan.
