LARNED — Mildred Ruth Spreier, 83, died Oct. 18 at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned. She was born Jan. 13, 1927, in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Theodore and Ellen Virginia Lupfer Berger. A lifetime area resident of Jetmore and Larned, she taught school for three years in Hodgeman County, and worked at Larned State Hospital for 22 years as an Activity Therapist Aide II, and also as the canteen supervisor, which included a work training program. On Aug. 10, 1947, she married Frank Spreier. He passed away May 30, 2003.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane Spreier, Larned; a brother, Lee Berger, Jetmore; a daughter-in-law, Karen King, Jetmore; two grandchildren, Sherry Johnson, Lorraine, and Shawn Spreier, Jetmore, and three great-grandchildren, Alicia Grover, Lorraine, and Kenzie Spreier and Bailey Spreier, both of Little River; and a host of nephews and nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by a son, Duane Spreier, seven brothers, Harold, James, Theodore Jr., Jean, Chester, Robert and Ross, and three sisters, Louise Schroeder, Mary Hays and Beth Oesteriech.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Methodist Church, Rozel, with Pastor Rich Zimmerman presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
