Millard K. Barrett 1933 - 2011

LARNED — Millard K. Barrett, 78, died Aug. 4, 2011, at his home in Larned. Born Feb. 15, 1933, in Larned, he was the son of Hugh M. and Elizabeth Boyer Barrett. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer. On Dec. 30, 1959, he married Patricia Schinstock in Kinsley. She survives.

Mr. Barrett was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus, was on the Apache Bowling league and was a Gem Dandy 4-H Leader, all of Larned.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Kevin and David, both of Larned, and Steven and Jeff, both Garden City; a daughter, Jody Ary, of Lewis; a sister, Joanne Baldwin, of Wichita; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa; two brothers, Preston and Brian; and three sisters, Martha Jane Koehn, Patricia Preedy and Mary Elizabeth Barrett.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at the Pawnee Rock Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1-7 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorials may be given to the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation in care of the funeral home.
