Milton H. Hiebert 1924 - 2014

LARNED  — Milton H. Hiebert, 89, passed away July 1 at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.
He was born Sept. 2, 1924 in Tampa, Kan.,  the son of Abraham Peter and Wilhelmina (Minnie) Kohlman Hiebert.  A longtime area resident; he was a farmer and rancher.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Larned Lions Club and Farm Bureau; all of Larned; he served in WWII in the Pacific Theatre.  He was a Grange member, went on the Honor Flight in 2009, received the soil conservation award in 1963, and also received the Melvin Jones fellowship award in 1997.  Milton loved delivering the Lions Club Christmas baskets.
On Aug. 21, 1949 he married Alta Irene Gibson at the Pleasant Hill Church in Ash Valley; she survives.
Other survivors include; three sons; Lyle and wife Sheila, Wichita, Dallas and wife Diane, Rozel;  and Roger, Overland Park; daughter, Charlene Burton and husband Bill, Russell; sister, Bertha Peacock, Wellsville; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; four brothers, Willie, Ernest, Dean and Vernon; two sisters, Dorothy Neighbors and Martha Guhr and one grandchild, Brian Burton.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Larned with Rev. Bethann Black presiding.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Beckwith Mortuary, Larned.  Family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home  Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery with military graveside rites.
Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Larned or the Fort Larned Lions Club, both in care of the Beckwith Mortuary.  Personal condolences may be left at www.beckwithmortuary.com.
