Milton LeRoy Rice 1935-2015

PAWNEE ROCK — Milton LeRoy Rice, 80, passed away Dec. 19, 2015, at Hays. Born on Feb. 28, 1935, in rural Hudson, he was the son of Albert L. and Edna (Mettscher) Rice. On May 18, 1957, he married Merita F. Delker in Great Bend. She survives. A resident of Pawnee Rock since 1967, he was an X-ray ASME code welder from 1956-1987.
Mr. Rice served in the United States Army reserves from 1957-1963. He was a member of the American Legion Argonne Post 180 and was a blood donor for many years, having donated 201 units.
Other survivors include a sister, Barbara J. Robertson (Larry) of Wichita; son-in-heart, David W. Delker (Barbara) of Wichita; sister-in-heart, Kay Parks (Lyle) of Salina; sister-in-law, Alpha M. Honaker of Denver, Colo.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by both parents and a mother-in-law, Bonnie M. Delker.
Inurnment graveside service will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, at Fairview Park Cemetery in St. John with Pastor Wade Russell presiding. Memorials may be given to the Kansas Eye Bank for Cornea Research in care of the funeral home.
