Nina Mae Hale 1931 - 2013

NORMAN – Okla. — Nina Mae Hale passed away on Nov. 30, at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, Okla. after a brief illness. Born Oct. 25, 1931, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Hazel and George Merten. She grew up in Great Bend and graduated from Great Bend High School.  On Jan. 7, 1952 she married Kenneth Hale in Great Bend.  They raised two daughters and two sons. In 1972, the family moved to Lindsay, Okla. She worked for Dr. Long, optometrist, and later, for the American Exchange Bank from 1980 until retiring in 2002. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved to cook, bake, sew and quilt. Her family came first in her life.  
Mrs. Hale was a member of the Lindsay United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was active in the home economist program sponsored by the county extension office. She was a Girl Scout leader and camp counselor and was a supporter of the Argonne Rebels Drum and Bugle Corps.
Survivors include a sister, Shirley Huffman (Glenn), of Bethany, Okla.; her children, Rebecca Hale of Elburn, Ill., Brenda Postlethwaite (Mike), of Lindsay, Okla., Ron Hale of Addison, Texas, and Jeff Hale (Holly), of Lindsay, Okla.; grandchildren, Keelia Postlethwaite of Pasadena, Calif., Kalli Postlethwaite of Edmond, Okla., and Zac Hale of Jones, Okla.; brothers-in-law, Leon Hale of Lindsay, Okla. and David Cooke of Gainesville, Texas; and many nieces and nephews including Craig Huffman of  Eugene, Ore., Curtis Huffman of Oklahoma City, Okla., Susie Sneed of Pauls Valley, Okla., and David Cooke Jr. (Landy) of Grapevine, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; and her brother, Donald.  
A memorial service is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, located at 411 W. Chickasaw in Lindsay, Okla., with the Rev. Ron King officiating.
