Nolen Gene Taton, 66, passed away June 24, 2020, at Hays Medical Center, Hays. He was born Oct. 22, 1953, at Harper, to Olen and Betty (Swingle) Taton. He married Cynthia Rice on Dec. 28, 1973, at Stafford. They were married for 25 years.

Coming frcm St John in 2017, Nolen was a Great Bend resident. He was the President and CEO of St. John National Bank for 30 plus years. He was a member of the Kansas Bankers Association and the Kansas State University Alumni. He was also a previous mayor of St. John. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping and spending time in Colorado. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include, two daughters, Emily Schroeder and husband Eric of Denver, Colo., and Stephanie Delaney and husband Jared of Ness City; his parents, Olen and Betty Taton; his companion and caregiver, Cynthia Rice; a sister, Linda McIntire and husband William of Argonia; four grandchildren, Keenan Schroeder, Zachary Schroeder, Clayton Delaney, and Carl Delaney; and friend and caregiver, Dan Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karlee Taton.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Schumacher presiding. Interment will be in the Stafford Cemetery, Stafford. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Kans for Kids, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
