ELLINWOOD — Norbert Luebbers, 86, died March 24 in Ellinwood. He was born April 24, 1926, is rural Barton County, the son of Henry and Josiphine Straub Luebbers. He married Anna Lee Kawasky Luebbers. An Ellinwood resident, he had worked as a pulling unit operator for Steven’s Well Service until his retirement in 1988.
Mr. Luebbers was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus No. 1187, both of Ellinwood.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christine “Tina” Caldwell and Gretchen Deighton, both of Ellinwood; two sons, Vince Luebbers, Wichita, and Paul Luebbers, Ellinwood; a sister, JoAnn Bieberle, Hoisington; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Luebbers; and by five sisters, Dorothy Bishop, Beatrice Mooney, Annette Mall, Louise Schreifels and Alice Smith.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ellinwood, with Father Charles Mazouch officiating. Burial will be in the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery, Ellinwood. Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Monday at Kimple Funeral Home in Ellinwood. There will be an altar society rosary at 3 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m., both Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Ellinwood Area Healthcare Foundation, Fire & Ambulance Fund, in care of the funeral home.
