Paul H. Wooster 1931 - 2021


Paul H. Wooster, 89, passed away Jan. 21, 2021, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born June 25, 1931, at Salina to Ben and Opha (MacVoy) Wooster. He married Betty Davidson April 12, 1957 at Great Bend. She died Dec. 23, 1978. He then married M. Lynne Sauer Aug. 2, 1980 at Great Bend. She died July 5, 2019. 

A Great Bend resident since 1949, Paul was a meter shop foreman for Kansas Power & Light Company. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #180. At the age of 5 he started setting pins at the bowling alley. He enjoyed playing bridge, card games, hunting. He especially loved spending time with his family.  

Paul played semi-pro baseball in the Ban Johnson League. He shared his talent and love of baseball with his son and many little league players. He was also the coach of the Great Bend American Legion team for many years.

Survivors include, a son, Robert Wooster of Great Bend; a daughter, Patricia Gottschalk and husband Gregg of Hays; three grandchildren, Shayla Ward and husband Aaron, Janelle Wooster, and Jayla Wooster; a step grandson, Nathan Fishburn; a great-granddaughter, Adilyn Ward; and a cousin, Gary Wooster of Salina. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Betty (Davidson) Wooster and M. Lynne (Sauer) Wooster; a stepson, Thomas Romme; and a grandson, Shane Gottschalk.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m., Monday, Jan. 25, 2021 at Bryant Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Great Bend, with Reverend Morita Truman presiding. A recording of the service will be under Paul’s obituary at www.bryantfh.net the afternoon of the service. Interment will be in Geneseo Cemetery. Memorials are designated to Shane Gottschalk Shane Strong Memorial Scholarship at Fort Hays State University, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
