SALINA — Philip C. Krug, 63, of Salina, died Saturday, April 7th, 2018.
Phil was born on Aug. 18, 1954, in Ness City, Kan. He was the son of Robert and Margaret (Young) Krug. Mr. Krug was an owner and vice president of Assurance Partners for over 33 years. He was a 1976 graduate of Kansas State University, with a bachelor’s degree in business management.
He married Glenda Hill Krug on May 19, 1979, in Ottawa, Kan. He was preceded in death by Glenda in 2005. On Dec. 9, 2017, he married Rhonda Tonne of Salina, Kan.
Phil served his community in many ways, including: an Elder and Trustee of First Presbyterian Church; President of Hospice of Salina; President of the Manhattan, KS Chapter of Lutheran/Christian Fraternity Beta Sigma Psi; member of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors for the Salina Regional Health Foundation, and an active participant in Relay for Life for over 10 years in memory of Glenda Krug. Most important to Phil was spending time with his family and friends. He lived each day by the Winston Churchill quote “Never, Never, Never Quit.”
Survivors include his wife, Rhonda of the home; a son, Alexander Krug (Alana) of New York, NY and grandkids Estelle and Bennett; a daughter Katie Jarvis (Ashley) of Salina and grandkids Jack and Charley; a stepdaughter Tera Olivigni (Jonathan) and grandkids TJ and Addison of McKinney, Texas; a stepson Curtis Tonne (Shaleah) and grandkids McKenzi, Jacob, Ethan, and Caleb of Salina, Kan.; a stepdaughter Jessica Myers (Evan) of Tulsa, Okla.; a sister Pam Hardy (Dave) of Goodland, Ks.; a brother John Krug (Donna) of Great Bend, Kan.; a brother Doug Krug (Angie) of De Leon, Texas; a brother David Krug (Hope) of Topeka, Kan., and many nieces and nephews: Kristin Allan, Kristen Baker, Jane Dubbs, Adam Krug, Matt Krug, Tony Hendershot, Lindsey Hendershot, Tori Krug, Baxter Krug, Lillie Krug, Kyle Hardy, Erinn Swanson, Evann Lovins, and Austin Krug. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth Street, Salina 67401, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at First Presbyterian Church, Salina, with the Rev. Charlie Smith, Rev. Barry Dundas and Rev. Keith Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina. Memorials may be made to the Greater Salina Community Foundation, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
