LARNED — Phyllis I. Deege, 90, passed away May 12, 2018 at Diversicare of Larned. She was born Aug. 11, 1927 in Larned, the daughter of Bertle and Etta Posey Barstow. A lifetime area resident, she was a medical technician at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, was an office manager for Dr’s. Ewing, Brenner & Smith and was an information clerk for the Pawnee County Appraiser Office.
She was a member of the Larned United Methodist Church and was a 4-H leader for the Tiny Toilers, served on the Pawnee County 4-H Board, election board and the Zook Alumni Community Board.
On June 10, 1947, she married Donald J. Deege in Larned. He survives.
Other survivors include, three children, Dr. Deborah Noble, Lombard, Ill., Jon (Shirley) Deege, Kinsley and Denise (Charles) Erdman, Wichit; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Hesler, Bertle Barstow, Doris Barstow Krehbiel and John Barstow.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Larned United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned. Memorials may be sent to the Pawnee County 4-H Foundation in care of Beckwith Mortuary, Box 477 Larned, KS 67550.
