Ralph L. Stalcup, 86, died Jan. 7, 2015, at Locust Grove, La Crosse. He was born June 5, 1928, at Great Bend, to Arthur A. and Amy (Gates) Stalcup. He married Mary Katheryn “Pollie” Clevenger May 9, 1953, at Hutchinson. She died Feb. 28, 2009. A Great Bend resident since 1976, coming from the Seward area, he was a farmer and stockman and was president of Globe Operating Inc.
Mr. Stalcup was a member of First Christian Church, B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1127, guest member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post  No. 3111, Fraternal Eagles Aerie No. 646, Western Kansas Chapter of American Petroleum Institute, and the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Stalcup and his wife Diane, and Richard Stalcup and his wife Kristy, both of Great Bend; two daughters, Gia Scott and her husband Patrick of Hays, and Pollie Unruh and Kevin Mauler of Great Bend; 10 grandchildren, Barry Stalcup and his wife Daphne, Kelli Myers and her husband Shane, Matt Stalcup and his fiancée Andrea Maxwell, Ashley Fugitt and her husband Ricky, Taree Dougherty and her husband Stacy, Amy Sellers and her husband Matt, Cade Scott and his wife Tiffany, Kaley Williams and her husband Brett, MacKenzie Unruh, and Madison Unruh; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur A. Stalcup; his mother, Amy Gates McCoy; one sister, Marjorie Scheib; and four brothers, Marion “Pete” Stalcup, Forrest Stalcup, Wayne Stalcup and Lawrence Stalcup.
Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at First Christian Church in Great Bend with the Rev. Sue Bishop, officiant. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Bryant Funeral Home.
