QUINTER — Randy Charles Yowell, 65, died Feb. 18, 2013 at his home in Quinter.
He was born Jan. 21, 1948 to Harold and Marjorie (Murray) Yowell in Grainfield.
The family moved to moved to Russell and later to Great Bend. He earned All-State football, basketball and track and field honors at Great Bend High School. He attended Wichita State University on a football scholarship and graduated from Fort Hays State University with a business degree. His weekly column, “The Treasure Ranch,” was published in The Gove Advocate. He authored a book “Beneath the Cantaloupe Moon” about Sheriff Stackhouse in Gove County.
Survivors include his daughter, Kallie Hapgood, Darien, Conn.; two brothers, Skip Yowell, Saint Peter, Kansas; and Lindsey Yowell, Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Diana Crouch, Saint Peter; three nephews; and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marjorie Yowell.
To honor Randy’s wishes, there will be no public services or visitation.
