FORT DODGE — Raymond L. Yahne, 80, died Feb. 18, 2018, at Kansas Soldiers Home in Fort Dodge. He was born on June 22, 1937, in Great Bend, the son of Lloyd and Franols (Foster) Yahne. He spent his childhood in Great Bend and attended school there. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Feb. 7, 1956, serving for almost four years before his discharge on Dec. 17, 1959. Ray was a jack of all trades. He worked in the oil field, a sawmill, and for a farmer. He also worked as public safety officer.
Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting elk, bear, deer, and antelope in Colorado.
Ray is survived by two children, Ralph Yahne and Patty Yahne both of Virginia; a brother, Thain (Ty) Yahne of Jennings; a sister, Jeanette Hal of Sacramento, Calif. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial graveside service was held at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Fort Dodge at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, with Rev. Vernon Bogart presiding and military honors by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors and Howard Gotschall Post #1714 V.F.W. Inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery. There is no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Halsey Hall in care of Swaim Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
