ELLINWOOD — Richard (Dick) Elsen, 68, died Oct. 9 at his home in Ellinwood. He was born Nov. 14, 1942 in Colwich, the son of Nicholas Elsen and Emelia Schwartz Elsen. He was an Ellinwood resident for over 45 years and worked in manufacturing at Marlett Coach in Great Bend.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He married Goldie Staggs on Nov. 14, 1964 in Great Bend.

Survivors include wife Goldie Elsen of the home; sons, Tim Elsen and wife Shawn of Leon, Todd Elsen and wife Loretta of Ellinwood; daughter Teri White and husband Scott; brothers, Ralph Elsen of Dennis, Nick Elsen of Great Bend, Jerome Elsen of Great Bend, and Stan Elsen of Timken; sisters, Vera Henning of Great Bend, Betty Staudinger of Hoisington, and Connie Watts of Great Bend; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Julitta Dyer.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ellinwood with Father Charles Mazouch officiating. The calling time will be from 1-5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The altar society rosary will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The vigil service will be at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be at the Lakin-Comanche District Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ellinwood Hospital Auxiliary or to Ellinwood EMTs in care of the funeral home.
