Richard F. Loftis 1925 - 2014


GREAT BEND — Richard F. Loftis, 89, died June 3, 2014 at his home in Great Bend.
Born April 20, 1925, in Poteau, Okla., he was the son of Leonard and Lois (Ledbetter) Loftis. On Sept. 1, 1949, he married Faye Wiley in Perryville, Ark. A resident of Great Bend since 1952, coming from Alma, he was a derrick hand for Pickrell Drilling Company. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Loftis, of the home; a daughter, Carol Welsch and her husband Max, Great Bend; two brothers, Gene Loftis, Pratt; and Jackie Rogers, Poteau, Okla.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Richard Loftis; two brothers, Bill Loftis and Roy Rogers; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. John Grummon officiating. Burial will be at the Great Bend Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Rose Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center, in care of the funeral home.
