HOISINGTON — Richard Franklin Newkirk was born Feb. 24, 1972 in Great Bend, Kan. and passed away Oct. 13, 2021 in Wichita, Kan. due to complications from an automobile accident at Wesley Medical Center.
Rick grew up in Hoisington and attended the Hoisington schools. He enjoyed doing mechanic work that his dad passed on to him. He also enjoyed wrestling during his younger years. He enjoyed having the same birthday as his dad.
He is survived by his sister, Debi and Larry Von Lintel of Goodland, Kan.; his brother Travis Newkirk of Hoisington; his niece Jeree Scheuerman of Great Bend; a niece Jessica Scheuerman of Kingman; Beth and Tom Sykes of Wichita; Robert and Amada of Houston, Texas; and Kari Rarick of Hill City. He is survived by a large number of nieces and nephews; many more relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his dad Frank Newkirk earlier this year; his mother Sandy Newkirk; and his brother Scott Scheuerman. They have been waiting for him to welcome him home.
He was compassionate, caring, and loving. He would listen to anyone and offer his advice to them. He enjoyed spending time with kids and would listen to them. Many kids would have him wrapped around their fingers.
